The Pictureworks

  • 5 Bathrooms

A luxurious industrial loft-style conversion purpose built for you to celebrate, holiday or enjoy time away with friends. The Pictureworks is designed with everything you could need for a fantastic break - with your own private spa (hot tub, steam room, sauna, heated seats) and two heated pools (one private), large tables inside and outside (both seating 16 people) and e four large glass bi-folds, allowing the option (for a  truly inside/outside experience. All bedrooms are also en suite, and can be configured to suit any combination of super kings or singles to work for your group.

You will be able to relax by your own private heated pool (April, in 2024 will be from 27th March for Easter, to October) or our larger shared second pool (with private sessions) in a walled garden (May to September), enjoy surround sound from the Sonos music system, play pool and table football in the entertainment area, and play outdoor games such as basketball, table tennis and croquet on the lawn.

The Pictureworks is located on the edge of the picturesque village of Long Sutton on the Somerset Levels, and faces open countryside with multiple footpaths from the house. The village is very pretty with its blue lias houses, a church, pub and shop located around the village green and the area is full of wildlife - in fact, it is recognised as one of the best bird watching areas in the country. Within one mile there are two other pubs, one (The Halfway House) being regarded as the best in Somerset. The local historical small town of Langport (5 minutes) is known for battles in the civil war and sits on the banks of the River Parrett where you can swim, paddle board or relax in a cafe to watch the river go by. Within 20 minutes you can visit Glastonbury with its Tor, Abbey and unusual shops and restaurants, Street with its factory outlet shopping, several wildlife sanctuaries, multiple National Trust houses and open gardens, Haynes Motor Museum, The Fleet Air Arm Museum and more. Within one hour you can visit two coasts and the towns of Bristol, Bath and Exeter as well as Dartmoor, The Quantocks and The Mendips. The area is also full of local cider farms that can be visited (and sampled) as well as a farm shop within a mile, a local smokery and several local butchers, greengrocers and delis.

There is parking for six cars at the house, although we can arrange more if needed here is also a Berrys bus from London that stops five minutes away and nearest train stations are Castle Cary (20 mins), Yeovil (25 mins) and Taunton (30 mins). There are local taxis and minibuses that you can organise to help you get around once here.

There will be someone available to welcome you when you arrive, and to help with anything you might need once here. But if you don't need us, you won't see us. We work hard to make sure guests' privacy is respected while ensuring facilities like the hot tub and pool are maintained to the highest standards. If you would like, we can help you tailor your celebration or holiday with catering and meals in local pubs, as well as activities on-site such as laser shooting, archery and pampering, or off-site such as cider tasting, golf and clay pigeon shooting.

WOW- what a venue!

WOW - what a venue to stay in! We came here with 20 of us for my 30th Birthday and from start to finish Gill and George have been brilliant. So responsive over messaging and so accommodating. When we arrived, George couldn’t have been any more helpful with getting everything sorted. The venue is very well sound proofed which made it great to celebrate. 10/10 venue and we will definitely be returning.

Beautiful Property

Amazing stay in a really beautiful property. We thought that the place was actually bigger than the pictures made it look. The private spa area was fantastic and we all really enjoyed having this. Gill and George were very helpful and attentive, we all loved the basket of homemade scones, jam and fresh cream on arrival it was such a lovely touch. Local area was great to explore, Harry's cider farm and the farm shop next door not to be missed. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Halfway House aswell.

Hosts were very responsive and accommodating

Perfectly place, we had 6 families with 12 adults, 6 kids, 3 babies and did not feel cramped at all. Very social home was great for the new trip. Walked to the local Devonshire arms perfect distance and great food and service, also went to the lime kiln which was also great. All in all a great place for multiple friends and families to get together.

highly recommend

Lovely place to stay for a big group! Individual bedrooms with en-suites and a huge open lounge area with views. Hot tub, Sauna and steam room are brilliant akin to a resort. Very good TV (all streaming services available to keep kids busy when they are tired or for family movie night) and internet/ wi-fi. Gill is a great host 1 - very approachable and friendly! The place has everything you need for a comfortable stay - loads of cutlery, 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators to cope with large groups. Loads of games available for kids including a fudge ball and pool table . Highly recommended!

Host- Gill and George were super responsive, friendly and welcoming

We had an awesome long weekend at Gills place! The space- incredible space, perfect for socialising. We were 7 families with kids and with it all being open plan we were able to keep an eye on the kids and spend the time together. There was loads to do with the space too…pool table, table football, lots of games. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds super comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to make a wonderful Christmas dinner, plus Gill left us a delicious lemon drizzle cake. The spa- amazing! We used the hot tub and sauna and spend some time relaxing in the spa area (without the kids lol) Area- beautiful countryside. The farm shop is walking distance and sells incredible local produce. Villages easily accessible near by. I went for a run round the area and it’s stunning. Host- Gill and George were super responsive, friendly and welcoming. We would totally recommend staying at Gills place!

The spa, hot tub and pool facilities were amazing!

The hosts Gill and George went out of their way to accommodate us all with beds etc. and made our stay so comfortable. George was particularly helpful with recommending places to visit and was always on hand to help with any queries. The spa, hot tub and pool facilities were amazing! We couldn't get the children out of the pool! The house is so well equipped with everything we needed to cook and entertain a large family. The pool and football tables and the karaoke machine were constantly used. Everything was spotlessly clean. The surrounding area is also beautiful, this house was the perfect place for our family get together! We were so lucky with the weather it was so mild for October and enabled us to spend a lot of time outside in the pool and the grounds. We had a fabulous time here with our very large family, and we would not hesitate in booking this house again. Thank you so much to Gill and George! Also the lemon cake was very tasty and a lovely added touch.

worth every penny!

Absolutely lovely place! We hired for a 30th gathering and didn’t need to leave the house all weekend as was enough there to keep us busy. Everyone had a wonderful time and Will definitely rebook. Worth every penny

Heated swimming pools were excellent

The Pictureworks was great for our group and the facilities with heated swimming pools were excellent. The vast array of games was a bonus and the space was ideal for our trip. Gill, George and the team were on hand if needed and helped facilitate a larger than average group staying in the rooms. The grounds were lovely, the place felt roomy and fresh and there was plenty to do. We'd definitely come back!
