The Threshing Barn

  • 18 Guests
  • 8 Bedrooms
  • 17 Beds
  • 6 Bathrooms

A superb location for a family or group of friends to holiday or celebrate. Dine in the huge double height kitchen or socialise in the barn-like lounge. Relax in your covered hot tub and sauna, swim in the heated pool, play table tennis, table football or amble along the footpaths to one of the three surrounding pubs all serving fantastic food, beer and cider.

The Threshing Barn offers a total of eight bedrooms and six bathrooms across three barns (the main Threshing Barn, the smaller Courtyard Barnthat houses two en suite double bedrooms, and the Apple Barn with two bedrooms and a bathroom).

Outside there is a fully enclosed heated swimming pool (open May to September, shared but with private sessions) located in a walled garden. Your private hot tub and sauna are located in a covered area with views across the countryside, and there is also an outside games area with table tennis, table football and a pool table for your own peronal use.

South Somerset is a beautiful area with the wildlife and mists of the Somerset Levels, the history and legends of Glastonbury and King Arthur, lovely hamstone towns and villages and perhaps best of all, the pubs, cider and local produce. Within an hour you can visit two coasts, the towns of Bristol and Bath, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge and undiscovered villages like Somerton and Langport with their fantastic local shops and cafes. The Threshing Barn itself is located in the picturesque village of Long Sutton with its blue lias houses, a church, pub and shop located around the village green. Within one mile there are two other pubs, one (The Halfway House) being regarded as the best in Somerset. Within 20 minutes you can visit Glastonbury with its Tor, Abbey and unusual shops and restaurants, Street with its factory outlet shopping, several wildlife sanctuaries, multiple National Trust houses and open gardens, Haynes Motor Museum, The Fleet Air Arm Museum and more. The area is also full of local cider farms that can be visited (and sampled) as well as a farm shop within a mile, a local smokery and several local butchers, greengrocers and delis.

Upon arrival, there will be someone available to welcome you, and we are always happy to help with anything you might need. We can also help arrange catering, pampering or a host of on-site and off-site activities.

However, if you don't need us, you won't see us. We work hard to make sure our guests' privacy is respected, while ensuring facilities like the hot tub and pool are maintained to the highest standards.

There is parking for five cars at the house, although we can arrange more if required. There is a Berrys bus from London that stops 5 minutes away, and the nearest train stations are Castle Cary (20 min), Yeovil (25 mins) and Taunton (30 mins). There are also local taxis and minibuses that you can organise to get around once you are here.

Perfect for us

Great stay for our beautiful friends Hen do. The accommodation was spacious and perfect for the 14 of us. Gill showed us around and everything was clear throughout the whole stay. Recommend looking at the suppliers list which is sent as we had a lovely private chef as a result of this who was familiar with the accommodation. Hottub and sauna were great additions and lots of personal touches throughout the accommodation.

Brilliant Weekend

We had a brilliant weekend celebrating my birthday with friends. It’s such a beautiful property throughout and we fitted 10 adults and 4 children comfortably. The hot tub and sauna was great, especially in freezing outside temperatures- it was perfect under the stars! Then warming up in front of a big cosy fire was just what we all needed this winter. The hosts were so helpful, and answered all our questions really quickly. We didn’t have any issues during our stay, everything worked. We even got a welcome cake, which was a nice touch. Would love to stay in the summer to make use of the pool and generous outside seating. However, the long kitchen table inside fitted us all nicely. Thank you for a great stay! Would definitely come again.

Wonderful stay!

A wonderful stay! From the moment we booked and throughout our stay our hosts were so attentive and friendly. My family had the most magical Christmas. Thrashing barn was even more gorgeous than we had imagined. So idyllic and spotlessly clean. Gill even popped up a Christmas tree and some decorations too which was such a lovely touch. Beautiful surroundings with plenty to do for all the family. Could not recommend this stay and its exceptional hosts enough. We’re already looking to book for next year!

Barns were Cozy and Clean

We had the most wonderful stay at Threshing Barn. The setting is beautiful and the barns were so cozy and clean. Gorgeous walks, welcoming pubs , making it the perfect weekend for my 50th birthday with friends. Gill and George were lovely hosts. Happy to help in anyway. The hot tub, sauna and pool table were a lovely extra touch. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a memorable weekend.

Highly recommend

Wow we have an amazing few days stay for our family celebration. Barns, garden, hot tub, games room all was superb and we were so lucky with the weather and would like to come back in summer when we can use outside pool as this also looked amazing. George greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour which was great. We visited local pub Halfway House which was recommended and had a wonderful meal! found the bowling & Willow Centre for the Halloween Sculpture Trail which kids loved and weather was amazing! Check out day asked George where to go for breakfast went to the Bakery in Langport which food was absolutely delicious and bought some of their bread - highly recommend place - Thank you to George & Gill x

Enjoyed our stay and would come back again

We had a great stay here for a family get together. Very well equipped for group gatherings. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again. Both Gill and George were really responsive and very accommodating. Work perfectly for a large group, the place was just as describe. Really loved that they’d supplied plant based milk and not just cows milk, very considerate. Thank so much for a lovely stay!

Perfect stay

Perfect stay, lots of clear instructions, quick responses to all questions. Welcomed on arrival, shown around and recommends given. Large, spacious home which also felt warm and cosy. Perfect for large group of family and friends. Lucky with the weather, had a swim, hot tubs and sauna. Outside seating around the pool and garden. Loved Harry’s cider farm and local pubs. Hoping to come back next year.
