Start with the people, then the house

A milestone birthday is a good reason to get everyone under one roof. Start with your guest list and dates, then compare the sleeping arrangements, indoor dining and social spaces. Little Upton’s four houses are in Long Sutton, near Langport, Somerset.

What to check before booking

Check bedroom and bathroom arrangements, the table size for a meal together, and which facilities belong to your house. Private hot tubs and saunas are offered across the houses; pool access and seasonality vary. Do not assume a house’s sleeping capacity also describes its dining table.

A weekend with room to breathe

Keep arrival night simple: supper, a drink and time to catch up. Leave Saturday morning open for breakfast, a walk or the house’s facilities. A catered dinner can make the birthday meal feel different without everyone leaving the house. Sunday can be a slow breakfast before the 10am checkout.

Add a chef or treatment if you fancy it

Private chefs, catering and treatments are optional paid extras. Agree menus, dietary needs, timing, costs and cancellation terms directly with the provider. External suppliers and additional visitors need prior agreement with Little Upton.

Travelling from London

Approximately 2.5 hours from London by car, depending on your starting point and traffic. Check your route for your travel dates.

The nearest railway stations are Yeovil Junction (about 25 minutes by car), Castle Cary (about 20 minutes) and Taunton (about 30 minutes).

Arrange onward taxis ahead of time, especially for a large group.

Keep the celebration within the house rules

Keep music and noise inside the house after 10pm; quiet hours 10pm–8am apply outdoors. Hot tubs close at 10pm. The lead guest must be at least 28 unless agreed in advance. Additional visitors need our written agreement. Plan the birthday around the people staying, rather than an open event.
