Your perfect hen weekend in Somerset.

An example of how a Friday-to-Sunday hen weekend can unfold — a suggestion, not a package. Every house and every group does it differently.

Friday

Arrive and unwind

Check in from 2pm with early check in, and get decorating. Welcome the group from 4pm, find your rooms and settle in. First drinks at the house, a relaxed dinner and an evening in the hot tub with a glas of prosecco.

Saturday

Celebrate together

A slow morning and a big breakfast, then an activity — spa treatments, cocktail-making or a walk to the pub. Back to the house to get ready, then the main event: a chef-cooked dinner, cocktails and karaoke into the night.

Sunday

One last catch-up

A lazy breakfast, a dip in the pool or a stroll on the Levels, and one last coffee together before check-out at midday.

  • “We stayed at Upton Bourn Lodge for my friends hen do for 3 nights during an unseasonably warm October weekend and had a wonderful time! The lodge and amenities were perfect for our big group and we made the most of the wonderful private pool, hot tub and sauna. Gill and George were always so responsive via message and attentive which made all the difference with feeling at home at the lodge. The rooms were comfortable and clean with plenty of fresh towels and linen for our group. We had local recommendations for massages at the lodge, a local Sunday roast and take away pizza. This space is perfect for time away with friends or family and would highly recommend!”

  • “We had the most amazing stay at The Pictureworks, and it was absolutely perfect for a hen do weekend! It had everything we could possibly need for a large group, including a karaoke machine and plenty of fridge space! The spa and pool facilities were excellent and a highlight of our stay. The recommended private chefs and local restaurants / takeaway spots were great too and made the weekend even more enjoyable. We also visited Harry’s Cider Farm which was only a 10 min walk away. The hosts were incredibly responsive, friendly and always available whenever we needed them. Our Wi-Fi connection did go down during our stay, but the hosts were very prompt in getting it sorted for us. Thank you so much for letting us stay at Pictureworks - we hope to come back in the future!”

  • “We stayed here for a hen do and were a range of ages. We wanted somewhere where we could all relax and unwind with beautiful scenery and great amenities and this was absolutely perfect! We had so much fun in the swimming pool and hot tub and there was lots of lawn space for Yoga. Gill and George were so responsive and have created an amazing pack of recommended activities and caterers etc which we used for most of the activities that we did. The kitchen was so well equipped and the recommended caterer was unbelievable! This air bnb was everything we wanted and more and I would 10000% recommend it to anyone and everyone!”

  • “We had an amazing stay for a hen do. The host was helpful in the lead up to our stay and very responsive during with Max being a great help on site. The place is spacious and great for large groups. Just make sure you read all the terms and conditions (which are quite lengthy) as we didn’t realise there was an extra cost per person above bookings of 16 (the maximum air bnb will let you book for) and also the added extras such as main pool slot times and having to pay extra for karaoke etc. would definitely recommend!”

  • “The space is absolutely beautiful, very well cared for and spotlessly clean. We hosted a group of 22 for a hen. Everyone was able to go off and please themselves doing something different. Lots of nice walks around and a Cider orchard just a 10 minute walk away. The team that run the airB&B are always on hand to help out if needed, just a message away. Equally you are given your privacy to enjoy your stay.”

  • “We had the most amazing stay for my hen do! The hosts were fantastic from start to finish; really informative, incredibly responsive, and so helpful whenever we had a question. The property itself was absolutely awesome. It was so spacious and was the perfect place for our group. We had such a brilliant time partying, relaxing and generally making the most of the space - we even ended up playing hide and seek, which says a lot about how much room there was! The spa room was a particular highlight. It was absolutely amazing and left us all feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated after a very busy weekend. The beds were really comfortable, everywhere was spotlessly clean, and there were loads of great amenities for us to enjoy. The little extra touches were also so lovely, we were even left fresh scones from the adorable farm shop down the road, which was such a thoughtful surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and honestly couldn't have asked for a better place! Thank you! :)”

  • “We had the most amazing weekend at Vedalworks celebrating my hen do. Gill and George were incredible hosts, striking the perfect balance between being super responsive and helpful, but giving us our own privacy and space to enjoy the property. The place itself is incredible and kept in wonderful condition. The hot tub, sauna and pool are all amazing additions and make the stay that extra bit special. The seating areas are large enough for the whole group which is a rarity and parking was ample too. Would definitely return!”

  • “We had an amazing weekend here celebrating a Hen Do! Spent the entire weekend at the property - it had everything we needed to host a great stay for everyone. We made good use of the pool which everyone loved, and the outdoor spaces were great for us all to enjoy the lovely summer weather! Hosts were always in regular contact with us, super helpful and responsive - had no issues at all over the weekend. 10/10 would absolutely recommend for a large gathering - the property was huge and spacious with so many different areas for us to enjoy. Thanks for a great stay!!”

  • “Had a lovely stay for a friend’s hen do. The house is beautiful, with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The only downside was being asked to keep the noise down while using the pool in the middle of the day. We were just playing games and cheering when someone scored, which felt a little unreasonable given that the property is advertised as being suitable for large groups. Overall, though, we had a great stay.”

  • “Thanks so much for a brilliant stay - it made for a really special location for our friends hen do :-) So much to do around the house and lovely location if you want to explore. The place looked even better than the photos.”

  • “We loved our stay at Upton Bourn Lodge. It was the perfect place for a hen do of 18. The hosts were very responsive and we felt at home. Would recommend for a party or even for a quieter break. Communication in the lead up was great — hosts were helpful and information was clear. Thank you so much!”
